Very nostalgic for me. I escorted the Nikko Toshogu yabusame team around GB on a couple of occasions when they performed at Leeds and London. The latter was hilarious since they laid out the baba in the moat at the Tower of London which involved a right-angled bend. I was togged out in kamishimo with katana and tanto as a hatamoto, both swords being real. Then the heavens opened up and we were all absolutely drenched. I wish I had brought my hilt covers. Remarkably, the kamishimo that has the seams pasted together was not effected and dried out without any problems. Ian B
