Gilles, At first glance this looks like a perfectly good mask - but ... Why is the upper lip made from a separate plate? Why does he photograph the interior with the himo inside the mask so you cannot see the area around the mouth? This dealer has sold some good items in the past ... but
I am looking at a menpo on sale on Ebay for a while and I will like to have your feelings about it. It is from the seller Baiguixiu. Its number is : 151572921950
It seems to be a nice real menpo but I have the feeling that it was lacquered at some time of its life, can you help me on this one ? According to what I see it was made in late Edo.
Am I totally wrong ?
I would tell anyone to avoid this guy if possible, he does not have any real knowledge of what he sells, he can not communicate very well, he just buys from Japan and resells, his photos are not large and often miss important details, you can do better than this from other sources in my opinion.
Thank you very much Ian and Eric for these advices that I am definitely going to follow. Dear Ian, the upper lip was also part of my concern. But I did not notice the himo inside the mask which is hinding something......!
I am going to stay clear of that one and will carry on my quest to find a decent tetsu sabiji ryubu menpo.
