Getting pretty much to the frustration stage on colors. Dye fading is a fact of life, but I have yet to find any image of a period (pre-Edo) armour that lists as kurenai that actually looks like it was *ever* crimson. Maybe it is the preconceived perception caused by studying older armours, but can you envision the kashidori domaru in the national museum as crimson and navy? The dyeing process with safflower *can* remove all traces of yellow. Did they skip this step on silk for odoshi resulting in a more persimmon color?
