There's been somewhat of a problem for those of you wanting to collect polearms in terms of display. Buying direct from Japan is a great way to obtain yari heads, the problem is the pole. Due to the length of the pole shippers charge based on volumetric calculations. This makes the pole very expensive to ship, and there is the danger of it being broken. When they do arrive they often end up leaning against the wall.
That then leaves the option to have a blade fitted with Shira-saya. The problem with this is that shira-saya blades end up going in a draw never to be seen again until oiling time. Last year I designed a menpo stand that allowed the piece to be displayed free standing. Now I have taken that design and adapted it to yari (prototype in photo).
You will now be able to show your favourite or new yari as a freestanding display, with or without a saya. The stand will clasp around the tang of the blade, so there is no need for a cut down shaft.
I'm going to ask if any of you would like to pre-order a stand, if so I will discount the stand for all pre-orders. The retail will be £60.00, all paid pre-orders will have a £10.00 discount per stand.
Please note that I can can make replacement saya for your blade and hanging jirushi. I don't even need your blade as i can make the Saya from a tracing. Also any of you that would want to purchase yari/naginata blades from Japan can do so using my Yahoo Personal Bidding Service - SAMURAI KYOBAI.
