It's not so much the decoration (although the copper-toned petals help a lot), but the little mechanism inside that reminded me of Steampunk. To complete the image, little copper tubes and more gears would be necessary
This thread already contains a nice collection of Snaphaunce lighters. For future references I add two new one´s that recently popped up on the radar.
The first one just sold at an auction for almost 100000 yen (including fee's).
Interesting to see is the common sakura decoration. This one got some flowers made from silver mixed in with flowers made from copper. Compare them to the one I posted a week ago, which mixes the two metals. So even if the base decorations are the same, there is room for artistic freedom. This one also got a flower like decoration around the ring for the cord.
No flint or tinder present. Also got some issues with red rust which I think reflects in the final price.
The second one is offered at a "Buy now price" of 200000 yne (incl fee's).
Haven't been able to make up my mind if this decoration is surface rust or actual decoration Hoping for the latter. This one also got a flower like fitting around the ring.
The opposite side is devoid of decorations but it got a well preserved surface .
There is some blackish tinder but no flint present. In need of a good clean up but otherwise in good condition, reservation for that "decoration" on one side.
